The Ulna’s connected to the-

Adding some finer detail to my original base mesh in order to optimise the sculpting potential (the layers of skin are going to deform to reveal the underneath as in the pic):

And the arm muscle with the skin deleted so you can see what’s going on:

I’m hoping to have bits of muscle detach (maybe hanging on one end) in order to reveal the bone underneath.. Here it is with some muscle sections deleted:

Warning: Blog is infected!

[WARNING: younger readers or those of a delicate nature may find some of the images below disturbing!]

Uni is well underway, so I’ve been pretty busy!! Had several modules  to work on: Drawing and Composition, Special effects for games, Games development and Final year project..

For FYP I now have a supervisor and my work has undergone some scrutiny, in order to create a more successful specification.

So after much deliberation, I am now working on creating one current gen character for a survival horror game, that degrades over time to become ‘infected’..

I chose Pavla, as I felt she was the most striking character out of the three.  I removed her jacket, as I needed more anatomy to be visible for her transformation. After that I gave her plenty of accessories to make for an interesting silhouette and to match her new profile.

My current weekly task was to visualise some stages in her infection. I decided that the most efficient way to visualise this would be to take my original references and do some photo-manipulation. With the right combination of images and a little painting in PS, here’s a taster of what I’ve been working on:

I will be hoping to achieve the transformation of my model using a mixture of texturing and animation techniques.

Just a few different shots of the changes I’ve been making to Pavlas clothing in order to improve her overall look:

So I’ve been doing a few days of research this week, found some amazing resources (most obtained /found at http://www.rsart.co.uk) and have been taking an interest in the best that character meshes can be. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to step up the quality of my character’s meshes before I unrawap them. They will probably still be the first iterations of many throughout the next few months, but the less re-modelling I have to do (rather than tweaking instead), the better.

My task for today was to improve Pavlas hair. I tried to do something that used bulk and planes together to (hopefully) create a better solution for texturing:

When I get to creating the hair planes I will be using Paul Toscas ‘Making of Varga’ hair tutorial as a guide: http://www.paultosca.com/varga_hair.html

I haven’t been posting daily as usual, as I wanted to get to a certain point with my models, where I could unwrap the individual parts of the mesh and take them into a sculpting program. I’m still not quite there, as I’d like to remodel some of the areas I’m less satisfied with (hands, shoes etc), but thought I’d share my progress anyhow (prepare for a barrage of images!):

Its been abit of a slow day today, took a while to find decent reference pics for Jins trousers, but here they are (complete with chunky skate shoes, not that you can tell right now):
